Roundtable Background

In an environment of inter-agency working with complex pathways and processes, the need to identify and manage risks for early and proactive interventions remains a top priority to ensure the welfare of children and young people.

However, whilst the goals are clear, social services departments face a myriad of organisational, people and process challenges in their day-to-day work.

As with other public services, there is an opportunity to explore the potential of technology as an enabler for good. Through process automation, data capture and analysis – amongst other things – technology can aid risk identification and service delivery management which in turn reduces risk across the system.

With slow adoption of technology across social services, now is the time for leaders to come together to review the role of technology as part of a future risk management system.
